Welcome to The SEPTA Store

The Comet represents a pivotal evolution in commuter rail design. Originally introduced by Pullman-Standard between 1970 and 1973 for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, these iconic cars were engineered for New Jersey's commuter services. SEPTA integrated Comet cars into their fleet beginning in 1987, with additional original E-L/NJT units joining operations in 2008.

This HO scale model captures Coach #2516 in its rebuilt configuration, reflecting decades of refinement. The Comet design progressed from low-platform-only specifications to accommodate both high and low platform boarding, incorporating modern amenities including onboard washrooms, accessible seating, and the distinctive wide center door introduced after 1990. A detailed collectible for enthusiasts of Northeast corridor railroad heritage.
