In recognition of the centenary anniversary of the Frankford El, author Harry Garforth, with the assistance of staff of The Historical Society of Frankford, has created this beautiful and informative book which traces the history of rail transportation in Frankford leading to the construction and operation of the Frankford El. Covering from 1833 through 2022, the book includes chapters on the Philadelphia & Trenton Railroad, Philadelphia & Frankford Railroad, steam street railways and the Frankford Elevated Railway. The book contains numerous previously unpublished photos from the Society’s collections and should be of interest to Northeast Philadelphia residents and rail enthusiasts alike.
